Indians in The Hundred 2024
Smriti Mandhana (Southern Brave – 3 inns, 17 runs, 5.6 avg, 155 SR)
Smriti Mandhana started off her 2024 campaign in The Hundred on a bad note as she scored 15, 0 and 2 in her first three innings. With four more games remaining in the tournament and Southern Brave having the least chance of qualifying, Mandhana will hope to help her opening partner Danni Wyatt in providing good starts, thereby creating a chance for the Braves to potentially qualify.
Richa Ghosh (Birmingham Phoenix – 2 inns, 9 runs, 4.5 avg, 64 SR)
Richa Ghosh’s shift to Birmingham Phoenix from London Spirit has not been successful so far as she’s scored 9 and 0 in her first two games.
In the first game, she did not provide much support to Amy Jones as she registered a run-a-ball nine, walking in at No.5. She then followed it up with a five-ball duck in a game that saw Phoenix getting bowled out for 54. She will be hoping to step up and showcase her big hitting in the remaining games.
Deepti Sharma (London Spirit – 3 inns, 113 runs, 113.0 avg, 136 SR | 60 balls, 5 wkts, 7.7 econ)
Deepti Sharma has been the only successful India player in this season so far. She’s played a crucial role in all three games for her side, starting with the terrific 67-run partnership with Danielle Gibson in the Welsh Fire clash.
She then stepped up with both bat and ball in the second game, picking up 3/18 against Oval Invincibles while scoring 44 on top of that, in a contest that ended in a thrilling tie.
She once again shone with both bat and ball in the third game, scoring 30* (23) and picking up 2/25. Deepti will hope to continue her excellent form. At this rate, she could potentially even end up winning the Player of the Tournament award.
