IPL 2025 Venue Analysis: Guwahati offers to be a venue that will help a lot of bowlers

Here is look into the Guwahati stadium which will be hosting two home games for RR in IPL 2025

Guwahati will once again be hosting two home games for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025. It has been a trend with the Rajasthan franchise since 2023 as they intend to bring IPL to the North-Eastern states of the country. They will be facing defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 26 (Wednesday) and the five time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 30 (Sunday).

A total of 18 T20s have been held at the ACA stadium in Guwahati with teams batting first nine of those games. But, teams have opted to chase in 13 of those games.


Spinners have done well in containing runs as they have an economy of 6.8 far better than pacers who conceded 8.6 runs per over. They even have a better bowling average than pacers and have almost taken as many wickets as pacers at this venue.

Pacers are at their best in the powerplay striking at 18.3, taking 21 of the 22 wickets. The middle overs phases has seen spinners have the better of pacers in the wickets column. But, the bowling SR is higher at 30 compared to pacer's 21.5. Surprising in the slog overs, spinners have an excellent bowling SR striking at 10.5 compared to 29.2 of pacers in this phase.

Leg spinners have done well in the IPL games that has happened over the last two years. They have struck at 15.8 which is the best bowling SR amongst all bowling types at this venue.

Powerplay is one of the best times for bowlers to bowl in Guwahati. A total of 10 wickets have been taken six games in this phase. The bowling SR of 21.6 is the second best bowling average in first six overs at a venue in IPL over the last two years.

Finger spinners have not had the best of times at this venue in IPL. They have managed just three wickets in six innings averaging 56.0 and striking once in every seven overs. It is the worst bowling record for fingers spinners at a venue in IPL. Thus, there will focus on how Sunil Narine, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin and others will perform against RR in the upcoming games.

Wrist spinner have done well in Guwahati in contrary to finger spinners. They have bowling SR of 16.7 which is second best at a venue, bested by only Mumbai since 2023.
