WATCH: Tilak Varma Gets Surya Out, Celebrates in Shubman Gill’s Style

Tilak Varma, while playing in a practice match for Mumbai Indians ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, dismissed Suryakumar Yadav and did a unique Shubman Gill celebration to enjoy the moment on March 18 (Tuesday). 

The video, which encompassed all the above events, was shared by the franchise on their various social media accounts, including X.

Surya wanted to sweep the ball from outside off and got a top edge, which probably carried to short fine leg (not visible in the video), and before Surya walked off, Varma bowed down to the dressing room in the same way that Gill had after leading India to a win over Bangladesh in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. 

While the senior batter was walking off with a smile on his face, Tilak hugged him and shared a laugh. 

Varma and Yadav, both of whom were retained at INR 8 Cr and 16.35 Cr respectively by the franchise, ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, will be a key part of the team’s campaign. 

Mumbai will kick off their IPL 2025 season with a match against the arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings on March 23 (Sunday) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
