Watch: Suyash Sharma Drops Sitter But Josh Hazlewood Bounces Back
Luckily for RCB, the dropped catch did not cost anything
It was an action-packed start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Opening the batting for the first time for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Quinton de Kock cut the ball powerfully to the fence off the second ball of the match. Josh Hazlewood could have had his man in the next delivery; Suyash Sharma dropped a sitter. This was also the first dropped catch of IPL 2025.
It was a top-edge, and the ball stayed in the air for ages, giving Suyash ample time to get under it. He did everything right but in the end, failed to hang on to it.
It could have been a massive let-off, but de Kock was caught behind two deliveries later to give Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Hazlewood their first wicket of the tournament.
It was a superb first over by Hazlewood, who kept it down to just four runs. This is just the start RCB would have hoped for after winning the toss and opting to bowl. Incidentally, Suyash played for KKR till last season. He played 14 matches for them, picking up 10 wickets.
