WATCH: Kuldeep Yadav Bamboozles Ravindra With Insane Googly On First Ball
After getting dropped twice, the in-form New Zealand opener was cleaned up by Kuldeep Yadav
With five centuries in ICC events, Rachin Ravindra was always going to be the danger man for India in the Champions Trophy final but the Men in Blue did not help themselves as they put down the left-hander twice in the space of two overs.
Ravindra was first given a life by Mohammed Shami, who put down the left-hander off his own bowling, and then Shreyas Iyer at deep mid-wicket spilled a top-edge Ravindra had got off Varun Chakaravarthy.
Desperate for a wicket, wanting to make things happen, skipper Rohit Sharma threw the ball to his second spin trump card, Kuldeep Yadav.
And astonishingly enough, it took only one ball for Kuldeep to deliver as he bamboozled the in-form left-hander with an absolute pearler of a delivery.
Taking mark for the first time, Kuldeep, who had a disappointing outing against Australia, began with a short-ish good length delivery that drifted in. Ravindra expected the conventional stock delivery that turned away from him, and thus gave room for himself to cut the ball, but the wristspinner foxed the 25-year-old with a googly that turned into him sharply.
Ravindra was taken aback by the googly and the ball eventually ended up crashing into his stumps.
It was a massive, massive wicket for India as they’d sent back New Zealand’s best player of spin. In his very next over, Kuldeep also sent back Kane Williamson, taking an easy return catch after the ball had stopped on the right-hander.
