WATCH: Dhoni’s 'Lightning Hands' Strike Again As He Stuns SKY With Superhuman Stumping
The lightning-quick stumping was reminiscent of the stumping he made to dismiss George Bailey over a decade back
At 43 years and 259 days, MS Dhoni is already the oldest wicketkeeper in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Keeping wickets at this age is in itself a commendable achievement, but how about being the best in the business at this age? At FORTY THREE?
That’s precisely what Dhoni is, which he showed in CSK’s season opener against MI at Chepauk today.
After three early wickets, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma steadied the ship for the visitors. They got some momentum going, and CSK, for the first time, needed to strike to regain control of the contest. Next thing you know, Dhoni produces magic with the gloves to help the side out - something he’s done since the inaugural season in 2008.
CSK debutant Noor Ahmad tossed one outside off to the set SKY, who was batting on 29, and the MI’s stand-in captain’s eyes lit up after seeing the height on the ball. He went for an extravagant drive in the hope of collecting a boundary. Except SKY ended up getting completely beaten on all ends as the delivery was a googly.
SKY was well out of his crease when the ball got to the wicketkeeper, but he might still have had just about enough time to get back had a ‘normal’ wicketkeeper had been behind the wickets.
However, Dhoni, with his magic hands, whipped out the bails in an instant to send the MI skipper packing.
It was young Noor’s first wicket in CSK colours and even he couldn’t believe the sort of magic Dhoni produced at the age of 43.
