WATCH: Axar Patel’s Rocket Arm Sends Imam-ul-Haq Packing

Imam's decision to take off for a quick single ended up proving to be a cardinal sin

Axar Patel has forced his way into India’s ODI XI despite the presence of Ravindra Jadeja due to his 3D ability, and over the last few weeks, we’ve seen him win games for the side with both bat and ball.

Well, in the all-important Champions Trophy clash against Pakistan today, the third of the three dimensions came to the fore as the all-rounder fired a stunning direct hit to send Imam-ul-Haq packing.

Kuldeep Yadav was introduced into the attack in the 10th over of the clash, and Imam was instantly proactive against him, using his feet against the wrist-spinner on the very first ball of the over. Imam showed his intent there but he could fetch no runs as he ended up punching the ball straight to the bowler.

On the second ball of the over, Imam used his feet again, but this time, he got a decent connection and punched it towards mid-on. Not wanting to register yet another dot, already stuck on 10 off 25 balls, the left-hander put on his skates and dashed for a quick single.

However, the decision to take off for a quick single ended up proving to be a cardinal sin, as it was Axar on the other side of things. The 31-year-old, who has a rocket arm, picked up the ball in an instant and fired an absolute missile of a throw. The throw crashed into the stumps, leaving Imam well short of his crease.

The batter was absolutely devastated, fully realizing how he’d thrown his wicket away when everything was going fine.

From 41/0 in 8.1 overs, Pakistan ended up getting reduced to 47/2 in no time.
