WATCH: Ashwin Anna Strikes In His First Over On CSK Return

It took R Ashwin just four deliveries to pick a wicket against Mumbai Indians

Making his return to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after 3590 days, it took Ravichandran Ashwin just four deliveries to pick a wicket against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Chepauk on March 23 (Sunday).

Ashwin last appeared in CSK colours on May 24, 2015, incidentally against MI. It was one of the most awaited homecomings in the competition’s history, and it was made possible through the determination of CSK, who purchased the veteran for INR 9.75 crore.

Khaleel Ahmed, who was also playing his first game for CSK, got them off to a phenomenal start by dismissing Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton in his first two overs.

Ashwin was introduced into the attack in the fifth over, and MI’s stand-in skipper, Suryakumar Yadav, greeted him with a boundary before picking a single to get Will Jacks into the strike.

Ashwin brought out his trademark carrom ball, and Jacks tried to go over mid-off but failed to get the right connection. The ball went straight into Shivam Dube's hands, and the entire Chepauk, including Ashwin, let out a roar.

Despite taking a wicket, Ashwin conceded 14 runs in his first over, thanks to Tilak Varma smashing his first two deliveries for fours.
