Delhi Capitals' Annabel Sutherland was all over the Mumbai Indians in their Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on February 28 (Friday). More than her bowling hurting MI, it was Sutherland's stunning catch of Amelia Kerr in which she came running from deep mid-wicket and then dove full length to get both her palms underneath the ball and complete what is undoubtedly one of the most brilliant catches of the tournament so far.
Kerr was the only hope left for the Mumbai Indians, who were devised with wickets falling at regular intervals, rendering them unable to build on the innings.
Kerr, who was batting on 17 with only tailenders to follow and four overs to come, thought that she played a good shot and was left shell-shocked after Sutherland cleanly completed the catch.
After the fall of the Kiwi all-rounder’s wicket, Mumbai just fell apart and could only manage to get to 123/9, which is the third-lowest score for the blue and gold bridge in WPL history. In WPL 2025, it is their lowest total.
Sutherland, apart from taking that stunning catch, managed to finish with figures of 1/21 in her four overs, where she took the wicket of dangerous-looking Hayley Matthews.
