Travis Head set to become the second big Australian international to sign a contract with the Major League Cricket (MLC) franchise Washington Freedom after Steve Smith. The all-rounder is set to play his first edition of MLC, under the watchful eyes of their head coach Ricky Ponting.
Despite playing non-stop cricket over the last few months, Head has opted in for cricket in the United States of America (USA) with a lucrative opportunity. The franchise also roped in the exciting New Zealand talent Rachin Ravindra, with the all-rounder currently being an integral part of the five-time IPL winners, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) setup.
The franchise also retained the services of all-rounders Marco Jansen and Akeal Hosein, who could be trump for them in this year’s competition. Head becomes the fifth major Australian player, after Adam Zampa, Spencer Johnson (LA Knight Riders), Tim David (MI New York), and Smith (Washington Freedom) to be part of the competition.
However, this has nothing to do with preparation for the World Cup, given that the second edition of the MLC is set to kick-off only after the culmination of the global event (June 29).
