Shaheen Afridi And Matthew Breetzke Become Friends After Pakistan Pacer's Gesture
Breetzke and Afridi had a heated exchange while playing in one of the matches of the tri-series.
Pakistan speedster Shaheen Afridi on February 14 (Friday), confirmed that he is now friends with South Africa’s Matthew Breetzke, the batter with whom he had a nasty on-field fight during a match in the tri-series with New Zealand as the third team.
Explaining what happened on the ground, Afridi, in a video uploaded on X (formerly Twitter) said, "For the first time, Matthew didn't say anything. I kept teasing him about getting a wicket. Whatever happened on the field stayed there. Matthew and I met, shook hands, and became good friends."
Afridi was also vocal in admitting that his team needed to do better in finishing the game. "We admit that we haven't been performing well in the final overs," added the speedster.
Meanwhile, Afridi’s own form hasn’t really been the best. In the three matches that he played in the tri-series, the left-arm pacer could only take six wickets at an economy rate of more than six.
If the hosts are to do well in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Afrdi must fire in all the matches.
