Runs rain in Rajkot as India Women register their highest WODI total
Jemimaj Rodrigues scored 102 off 91 deliveries as India notched up a mammoth score of 370/5 in the second ODI
Runs were raining like cats and dogs in the second ODI between the Indian and Irish women’s cricket teams in Rajkot as the hosts scored 370/5 in the first innings - their highest total in the format. Every single batter in the top four scored at least a half-century. However, Jemimah Rodrigues shone the brightest with her maiden century in ODI cricket.
Earlier, Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal had given India a superb start and were batting in T20 fashion until Mandhana perished for 73 off just 54 deliveries at a score of 156/1 in 19 overs. Harleen Deol and Rodrigues started sedately after Rawal was out for 67. They stepped on the pedal after the 30th over in their 183-run partnership that came in just 168 deliveries.
While Deol was dismissed on 89, Rodrigues batted brilliantly to reach her maiden century in the format and celebrated the special occasion by doing a guitar pose.
Eventually, India crossed their previous highest total in the format and finished with 370/5 on the board. In the process, many records were broken.
