RCB Star Pens Heartful Letter After Withdrawing From Competiton
The 2024 WPL-winning franchise signed Australian all-rounder Kim Garth as her replacement
England’s pacer Kate Cross, who was part of the 2024 Women’s Premier League (WPL)-winning campaign of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), penned a heartful letter after withdrawing from the competition. While the pacer didn’t get much game time during her stint in Bengaluru, she was one of the experienced players in the camp, helping the likes of Renuka Singh Thakur.
The fast bowler was expected to return for her second straight season to the Indian city in Karnataka, but multiple injuries have since then derailed her comeback and also ruled her out of the Women’s Ashes. Eventually, the franchise had to replace her with Australian all-rounder Kim Garth, who could be a valuable addition.
“My decision to withdraw from the WPL was a difficult one, but I need to take the time to rehab my injury fully and prioritise my mental and physical well-being ahead of a big summer,” Cross wrote on Instagram.
“I’m gutted to be missing my time with RCB this year but wish @smriti_mandhana and the girls all the luck in defending the trophy! I’ll be supporting everyone from back home ❤️”
RCB open their WPL 2025 campaign against Gujarat Giants, on February 14 in Vadodara.
