Fast bowler Ottniel Baartman and all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo have been ruled out of the remainder of the One-Day International (ODI) series against India due to an injury. While Baartman suffered a right-side strain, Phehlukwayo suffered a similar injury on his left side during training.
Baartman is yet to make his debut for the Proteas, while Phehlukwayo, who played the first ODI, has picked up 91 wickets and scored 853 runs in 78 matches.
Pacer Beuran Hendricks has been added to the squad as a result. India took a 1-0 lead with a comfortable eight-wicket victory in the first ODI in Johannesburg. The Indian pacers wreaked havoc in the game to bundle the hosts out for just 116.
For India, Shreyas Iyer will miss the remainder of the series as he has departed to join the Test squad. The Test series will begin after the ODI series, starting December 26 at Centurion. One of either Rinku Singh or Rajat Patidar will take his place in the XI, as a result.
The three-match T20 International (T20I) series before the ODIs finished 1-1.
