Oshada Fernando returns to Sri Lanka squad for Bangladesh Test series
Pathum Nissanka continues to recover from a back injury he sustained during the India tour
Following impressive performances in the domestic circuit, Oshada Fernando return to Sri Lanka's Test side for the tour of Bangladesh, starting May 15. Oshada has hit 721 runs at 80.11, which includes four centuries and three fifties in the National Super League 4-day tournament, currently the second-highest run-getter in the tournament.
Pathum Nissanka is yet to recover from a back injury he sustained during the Test series against India. Oshada, who was not part of the team for the tour gets the nod.
Sri Lanka have also named the uncapped 21-year-old duo of Kamil Mishara and Dilshan Madhushanka. Lahiru Thirimanne and Charith Asalanka have not been picked along with Sri Lanka's fast bowling duo the likes of Lahiru Kumara and Dushmantha Chameera. Chameera is currently in India playig for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
Kamindu Mendis comes into the side in place of Roshen Silva who made himself unavailable for the tour.
Dimuth Karunaratne will lead Sri Lanka's 18-man squad, the selectors said Wednesday (May 4). The squad will travel to Bangladesh on Sunday (May 8), Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said. The first Test begins May 15 in Chittagong, followed by a Dhaka fixture from May 23.
