Matthew Kuhnemann Achieves THIS Bowling Feat Even Shane Warne Didn't
Kuhnemann now has taken 24 Test wickets at an average of 21.87
Just over two weeks ago, Matt Kuhnemann’s participation in the Sri Lanka tour was a huge doubt after nastily injuring his thumb in a Big Bash League (BBL) encounter.
However, now, after completing a miraculous recovery, Kuhnemann has achieved a very rare feat in the ongoing Test series.
He has become only the third Australian spinner, after Nathan Lyon and Stuart MacGill, to pick 15 or more wickets in a two-Test series. Indeed, the feat is so rare that even the great Shane Warne did not achieve it, with Warne’s best returns in a two-Test series being 11 wickets @ 23.27 against New Zealand back in 2004.

Kuhnemann, who made his debut in the 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India, picked nine wickets in the first Test in Galle. He picked three in the first innings of the second Test and then picked three of the first five wickets in the second innings to go past the 15-wicket mark for the series.
At the time of writing this, the left-arm spinner has taken 24 Test wickets at an average of 21.87.
