Kevin Sinclair set to replace Yannic Cariah at World Cup Qualifiers

The leg spinner underwent surgery after a blow to his face and will not recover in time for the Super Six stage of the tournament

Yannic Cariah, who suffered a nasal fracture after being hit in the nets, has been ruled out of the Super Six stage of the ICC World Cup Qualifiers, Cricket West Indies confirmed.

The leg-spinner underwent surgery after a blow to his face and was under the watchful eyes of the medical team.

However, after careful consideration, it was decided that he will not be able to recover in time, and Kevin Sinclair has been confirmed as his replacement.

Sinclair, who is a tall off-spinner and a handy right-handed batter, will arrive in Harare on Thursday, June 29.

West Indies finished third in Group A with two wins and two defeats and will face Sri Lanka, Scotland and Oman in their Super Six fixtures. All of the matches will be played at the Harare Sports Club.

The finalists of the Qualifiers will secure their place in the ICC World Cup, set to take place in India later this year.
