England Lions have revealed a 15-player squad for three four-day first-class matches against India A side, which has been strategically aligned with the men's five-match Test series. All three matches of the series will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, including a couple of two-day warm-up games against India A.
Josh Bohannon will be leading the side for the upcoming tour after the Lancashire batter dominated the run charts with an impressive tally of 1257 runs in the County Championship that came at an outstanding average of 59.85. The squad also features Sussex off-spinner Jack Carson alongside Callum Parkinson, a left-arm orthodox bowler who recently shifted from Leicestershire to Durham.
"Playing a series in India at any level is a challenge to get excited about; it's one of the truest tests for any cricketer. It's great that our Lions team can experience that challenge and have the opportunity to showcase their skills in those conditions,” England Men's performance director Mo Bobat said.
"The squad has a strong core of players in it that were out in Abu Dhabi recently for the training camp, with some of those players already selected into the Test squad. There's also a return for some more experienced players, which aligns with supporting England's more immediate needs."
The three-match unofficial Test series will run from January 12 to February 4 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It will almost be like a shadow tour with it being aligned with the first two Tests of the England tour of India.
