IPL 2025 Opening Ceremony: Why Was the Toss Between KKR-RCB Delayed?
The toss between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru was expected to happen at 7:00 PM
Unfortunately, the toss between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru for the first clash of IPL 2025 on March 22 (Saturday) was delayed. Whilst it was expected that the toss would happen at 7:00 PM, it was delayed because of the opening ceremony, which started at 6:00 PM.
First, KKR’s co-owner Shahrukh Khan introduced the duo of Virat Kohli and Rinku Singh ahead of the first clash, with the former being felicitated with a special award ahead of the 18th season. Later, Shahrukh also introduced the dignitaries, and also got the performers on the stage before the big clash.
While it was expected that the toss would happen, Shahrukh introduced the two captains of the night—Ajinkya Rahane and Rajat Patidar—on the stage. They cut a cake on IPL’s 18th-year anniversary, as the toss was further delayed. Finally, the toss was done at 7:15 PM, as Patidar won the toss, and RCB opted to bowl first.
