IPL 2025: 4 overseas players who will start for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

With strong Indian bowling options, LSG can use their overseas slots for big hitting batters

The Lucknow Super Giants' mega auction for the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was fruitful.

While the franchise didn’t continue with KL Rahul's services, it acquired Rishabh Pant at a whopping 27 crore price in the auction.

He forms a strong batting core for the LSG along with David MillerNicholas Pooran, and Aiden Markram. While Pooran was retained, all the others were acquired in the auction. They also have the big-hitting Mitch Marsh

With this combination in mind, let’s see the four overseas options who will start for LSG in IPL 2025

Aiden Markram

Markram has a great captaincy record for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape. He led them to victory in the inaugural season of the SA20 league and then once again in the next season 2024.

This great result for Markram the skipper has also come on the back of Markram the batter, as the right hander averages 33.27 in the SA20 league and has scored 366 runs - the highest so far. There is a big chance that he will open the batting as well along with Mitchell Marsh.

Mitch Marsh

Marsh recently returned to the Big Bash League (BBL) and hit some lusty blows. While his performance in the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) was terrible, he certainly hasn’t lost his ability to hit big at the top of the batting order — his bread and butter in the shortest format.

LSG need him at the top for a firing start so that Pooran and Pant can do their thing in the middle order.

Nicholas Pooran

If not for Pant, Pooran would have been captaining LSG this season. However, the West Indian batter is still one of the best T20 batters in the world, and his IPL numbers prove that much more easily. He has scored 1769 runs at an average of 32.16 and a strike rate of 162.3 in IPL.

While success has been a roller coaster ride for the Windies batter as a leader, he certainly has scored a lot of IPL runs, which makes him a strong contender for a leadership position in the team.

David Miller

With Marsh-Markram at the top and Pooran-Pant in the middle, LSG needed a fiery finisher who can complement these high intensity batters.

Since they have David Miller in the squad, who’s one of the best cricket hitters around, they’ll definitely use his services in the starting 11. Since they already have a lot of capable Indian bowling options, they don’t need an overseas bowler to chip in for them, so Miller can easily be the fourth overseas pick.
