IPL 2025: Full List Of Purple Cap Winners In Indian Premier League

T20 cricket might be a batter’s game, but the Indian Premier League (IPL), over the years, has seen some all-time great bowling performances, both in individual matches and across seasons. The highest wicket-taker in each season is awarded the ‘purple cap’, and, thus far, it’s been held by 14 different bowlers. 

While Sohail Tanvir was the first bowler to win the purple cap, back in IPL 2008, it’s been won multiple times by a total of three bowlers: Dwayne Bravo, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Harshal Patel. Incidentally, Harshal is also the last bowler to win the purple cap, having won it in IPL 2024 courtesy of scalping 24 wickets in 14 matches. 

A total of three bowlers have taken 30+ wickets in a season: Harshal (2021), Bravo (2013) and Kagiso Rabada (2020). Among these three, Harshal and Bravo hold the joint record for the most wickets taken in a season (32).
