IPL 2025: 3 Impact player options for Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals (DC) are coming into the 2025 edition of the IPL with a full strength squad. The team has a great mix of big names and x-factors. The bowling department consists of the likes of Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav Mitchell Starc, T Natarajan and others while the batting department has the likes of KL Rahul, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Tristan Stubbs and other quality hitters of the ball. 

The impact player option is going to be a key factor in DC playing their best cricket. They certainly have signed specific players who are going to be fulfilling this role.

ASHUTOSH SHARMA

Ashutosh Sharma made his first impression in the IPL as an 'Impact player' when he debuted against GT scoring 31(17) coming in at #8. He had a good first season for PBKS, scoring 189 runs in nine innings at a strike rate of 167. He also had a good season of Syed Mushtaq Ali 2024 for Railways, scoring 164 runs in five innings with two fifties, striking at 168. 

His breakout performance in 2024 led to him being signed by DC for 3.80 cr compared to 20 lakh which he got in IPL 2024, making it one the biggest salary bumps for a player between two IPL seasons. 

He will be expected to bat alongside Axar Patel and Sameer Rizvi in final overs and work towards accelerating the team's total towards the end.

KARUN NAIR

Karun Nair is currently the talk of the town in Indian cricket as the Karnataka batter has been lighting up the domestic competitions with his outrageous run-scoring. 

After moving to Vidarbha, he has found success in all three formats. His current performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy has been a 'once in a lifetime' batting showing as he has hammered five hundreds in six innings, averaging 664 while getting out only once.

With this kind of a form, Karun Nair can be a great impact player for Delhi Capitals, especially while chasing as he can hold on to one end and anchor the run chase, enabling the hitters around him to thrive.

VIPRAJ NIGAM

Vipraj Nigam signed his first IPL deal after a terrific showing in the UP T20 League 2024, picking 20 wickets in 11 innings. The leg-spinner brings in a third dimension to the DC spin department with Axar Patel's left arm spin and Kuldeep Yadav's left arm wrist spin.
He will be of great use in spin friendly conditions like Chennai & Kolkata where the tweakers will be expected to get some assistance from the wicket. He also showcased his ability of scoring runs in the lower order as he helped UP win their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 game against Andhra. These qualities will be help in being a worthy impact player pick for DC in IPL 2025.
