IPL 2025: 3 Indian Premier League Stars Singer Hardy Sandhu Played Against
No one will get the famous singer’s cricketer profile by the name of Hardy Sandhu, and they will be directed to Hardavinder Singh Sandhu's profile instead.
It would be very hard to believe that Hardy Sandhu, popular for his brilliant songs in Punjabi and his role as Madan Lal in the movie 83, in which Ranveer Singh played the role of Kapil Dev, is actually a cricketer who played for the India Under-19 team and the Punjab First-Class side in the Ranji Trophy.
However, no one will get his cricketer profile by the name of Hardy Sandhu and you will have to search for Hardavinder Singh Sandhu.
He was so good that he was one of the top-rated pacers of his time, playing with the likes of Uday Kaul and Reetinder Singh Sodhi in a Dinesh Mongia-led Punab team.
Here are the famous IPL stars with and against whom Hardy Sandhu played in professional cricket.
Suresh Raina
Playing for Punjab in the 2004-05 Ranji Trophy, Hardy Sandhu played against an Uttar Pradesh team that featured Suresh Raina in it. Raina went on to be known as Mr Cricket after his prolific career in the richest cricket league.
In that game, Praveen Kumar and Piyush Chawla also played for UP and among his three first-innings wickets, Hardy also picked up Praveen, who then went on to play for India.
Moeen Ali
Playing for India U-19 in a Youth Test against England U-19 in Bengaluru, Hardy Sandhu played against Moeen Ali, one of the most famous spin-bowling, white-ball all-rounders that England ever saw.
In that game, which saw Hardy pick no wickets at all, he bowled 11 overs and delivered seven maidens for just eight runs in the second innings.
Yusuf Pathan
Hardy Sandhu, having played just three first-class games and one Youth Test, played with some of the finest names in the game and one of them is Yusuf Pathan. Playing for Punjab against Baroda in the 2004-05 Ranji Trophy, Hardy was face to face against senior Pathan, who would go on to win two World Cups for India.
In that game, where Hardy Sandhu went on to pick up three wickets, Pathan hit an unbeaten 19 in the second innings to take Baroda home by four wickets. He could only score 1 in the first.
