IND vs NZ: Glenn Phillips Schools Reporter For Baseless Question On Williamson

The reporter was taken aback by such a blunt response and by sheer ignorance on his part to doing his homework

Glenn Phillips of New Zealand was ruthless in schooling a journalist who did not do his homework while posing a question about Kane Williamson’s recent form ahead of the India vs New Zealand match in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025

The reporter asked whether New Zealand are concerned about Williamson’s batting because he has not been in form of late. Responding to this, Phillips said, “Did you watch the Tri series?”

The reporter, taken aback by such a blunt response and by sheer ignorance on his part to do his homework, said, “No, just overall this year.”

Phillips then went on to list Williamson's innings in his last few matches and reasoned why it is not a worrying point for the Kiwis.

“He scored 130-odd - not out there, and he scored 60, and then he scored 40-odd, so I don't think he's a problem,” said the 28-year-old.

Williamson, who has not been at the best of his fitness ever since the end of the 2019 ODI World Cup. As a result, the former New Zealand captain has played 21 matches and scored 909 runs at an average of 56.81. Since 2023, he has played 12 matches and scored 651 runs at an average of 65, which is the highest for all batters with at least 600 runs in that period.
