Former Sri Lankan Batter Chamara Silva Named Sri Lanka’s U-19 Head Coach

Silva served as Police Sports Club’s head coach before taking up the big gig

Sri Lankan Cricket (SLC) have appointed the 45-year-old Chamara Silva as the Sri Lanka U19 side’s head coach on March 25 (Tuesday). The right-handed batter, qualified as an ICC Level III, has had quite extensive coaching experience in Sri Lanka’s first-class cricket.

Prior to this stint, Silva was the head coach of Police Sports Club after coaching both Bloomfield Cricket Club and Panadura Sports Club. The 45-year-old wasn’t the most sought-after name in international cricket but had plenty of experience at the highest level.

Silva amassed 2,269 runs across 75 ODIs, 11 Test matches, and 16 T20Is. His tenure will run from March 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026. The right-hander will be responsible for preparing the Sri Lanka U19 team for the ICC U19 World Cup in 2026.
