Esha Oza, Gerhard Erasmus win highest Associate honours in ICC Awards

Erasmus and Oza were awarded the Associate Men’s Player of the Year 2024 and Women’s Player of the Year 2024 respectively

Namibia’s Gerhard Erasmus was awarded the Men’s Associate Player of the Year 2025 by the ICC on January 26 (Sunday). The award for Women’s Associate Player of the Year 2025, also announced on the same day, went to UAE’s Esha Oza.

Erasmus in his 13 T20Is and 12 ODIs played in the year 2024, scored 363 and 364 runs respectively, almost at an identical average of 33. With the ball, he picked 18 wickets each in both formats, thus showcasing his talent as an all-rounder.

In the same period, he scored eight half-centuries and also picked up a five-wicket haul. The 29-year-old was by a far stretch the best Associate Player of 2024.

Oza was equally superb in the year, scoring 711 runs and taking 16 wickets in 20 matches. The 27-year-old was one of the only three players in women’s cricket to score more than 700 runs in the calendar year.

The other two are India’s Smriti Mandhana and Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu. Oza also scored a century in 2024 and it came against Oman in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Women’s Premier Cup competition.
