Cummins to Bumrah, Ferguson And More: List Of Star Injured Players To Miss CT 2025
Injury has been a serious problem ahead of the biggest event in Pakistan since the 1996 ODI World Cup
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 had its fair share of controversies before it released its schedule. However, once that was finalised, one by one, star players started to skittle away due to injuries. Be it Pat Cummins of Australia or Jasprit Bumrah of India, injury has been a serious problem ahead of the biggest event in Pakistan since the 1996 ODI World Cup.
Here are the star players that would miss the Champions Trophy 2025
Australia
While Pat Cummins was initially in a fix over whether to prioritise his family and injury concerns ahead of the all-important World Test Championship or to take part in the Champions Trophy, he chose the former. Mitchell Starc then suddenly pulled out of the tournament for personal reasons.
Other than those two, Marcus Stoinis's awkward retirement led to another Australian pulling out of the tournament. Mitchell Marsh and Josh Hazlewood were injured.
India
Jasprit Bumrah is the biggest name missing from the Indian squad that will travel to the UAE for the Champions Trophy.
South Africa
The Proteas will miss out on the services of two prominent pacers, Anrich Nortje and Gerald Coetzee. Coetzee was initially not named in the squad due to injury concerns. But later on, just after being named for the Tri-Series involving Pakistan and New Zealand, he got injured again.
England
Jacob Bethell got injured on the tour of India after tearing his hamstring and was replaced by Tom Banton in the squad.
New Zealand
Lockie Ferguson was already doubtful for the tournament with an injury he picked up in the International League T20 (ILT20) 2025. Rachin Ravindra was also hit on his face during the first ODI of the Tri-Series against Pakistan. Since then, whether he is fit to play in the Champions Trophy has not been made clear.
Afghanistan
Allah Ghazanfar was removed from the Afghanistan Champions Trophy 2025 squad on February 12 due to a fracture in the L4 vertebra.
Pakistan
Haris Rauf looks doubtful for the tournament even though he has been named in the squad. He was not included in the squad for the Tri-Series.
