CT 2025 Team Of The Tournament: 6 Indians In It, But Rohit Sharma Still Can't Find A Place
A total of five Indians featured in the playing 11, including Kohli, Iyer, Rahul, Shami and Chakaravarthy. Another Indian was named 12th player
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced their ‘team of the tournament’ for the Champions Trophy 2025, hosted by Pakistan and played in Pakistan and Dubai.
The event came to an end on March 9 (Sunday) with India beating New Zealand in the final at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. The ICC announced their Team Of The Tournament on March 10 (Monday).
Surprisingly though, Rohit Sharma, the winning captain, did not feature in the team, let alone be made the captain of the eventual best 11. A total of five Indians featured in the playing 11, including Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami and Varun Chakaravarthy.
Axar Patel was named as the 12th player in the side. While Kohli scored 218 runs at an average of 54.5, Iyer and Rahul had runs totaling up to 243 and 140 respectively. Rohit, who was also named Player of the Match in the final, scored 180 runs in five innings, including 76 in the final.
Among the bowlers, Shami and Chakaravrthy took nine wickets each, while Axar picked up five wickets and also scored 109 runs, including an important 29 in the final.
Apart from the Indians, New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra and Matt Henry and Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran and Azmatullah Omarzai completed the 12-man team. Santner was named the skipper for his nine wickets and 38 runs with the bat in three innings at an average of 19.
