The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) has begun in the worst imaginable fashion for Rohit Sharma, who has started the new season off with a duck - his 18th in the competition. On the back of the nought, Rohit has gone straight to the top of an unwanted list as he has the joint-most ducks in the competition.

On the night, Rohit registered a four-ball duck, perishing to left-armer Khaleel Ahmed, in El Clasico Clash against Chennai Super Kings on March 23 (Sunday). Khaleel swung one into Rohit’s pads, and he flicked it straight into the hands of Shivam Dube at short mid-wicket.
It’s a forgettable start to the season for Rohit, who registered just one duck in the entirety of IPL 2024. It’s the right-hander’s third duck at Chepauk in the IPL, more than any other batter at the venue in the competition's history. Before this, he registered three-ball ducks in both 2023 and 2012.
