Follow UsBarbados Royals' (BR) Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 campaign came to an end as they succumbed to an eight-wicket loss in Qualifier 2 against Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) on October 4 (Friday). As a result, Guyana progressed to the final, where they will meet St Lucia Kings (SLK) on October 6 (Sunday).
Plenty of batters got off to a start for the Royals, but nobody managed to make the best of it. David Miller top-scored with 36, while Alick Athanaze (26) was the only other batter to get into the 20s.
Romario Shepherd (3/35) and Moeen Ali (2/24) were the pick of the bowlers for the Amazon Warriors. In reply, Rahmanullah Gurbaz (40) and Moeen Ali (44) put up 54 for the first wicket in just five overs to give Guyana an ideal start. Shai Hope (56), who came in at three did not fail to impress either, cracking yet another fine half-century.
Guyana eventually got to their target with 33 balls to spare.
