Champions Trophy Final: Williamson Will Not Take Field Due To THIS Reason
Williamson is the most experienced New Zealand player in the squad
New Zealand, who seem to have put up a below-par score in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on March 9 (Sunday) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium (DICS) in Dubai, were dealt yet another blow as Kane Williamson was ruled out from fielding in the second innings.
“Team update | Kane Williamson will not field in the second innings of the Champions Trophy final due to a quad strain sustained while batting. Mark Chapman has taken his place in the field,” the Blackcaps posted on social media site X.
Since Williamson has more than 15 years of experience in international cricket and has played in five finals in ICC events, he was a crucial player on the field to aid the new captain, Mitchell Santner.
Mark Chapman, who has replaced him on the field, will only be able to pitch and doesn’t boast of an experience even comparable to Williamson.
With the bat, Williamson scored just 11 runs and was caught and bowled by Kuldeep Yadav. Before coming into this game, the former New Zealand captain had scores of 101 and 81.
