A hat-trick in red-ball cricket is not very uncommon, but how often do you see a bowler taking a hat-trick spread over two innings? Western Australia’s Corey Rocchiccioli bagged a unique record against Victoria, taking three wickets on three consecutive deliveries but across two different innings.
The Western Australian spinner dismissed Peter Siddle as the final wicket in the first innings before getting rid of Ashley Chandrasinghe and Campbell Kellaway with his first two deliveries to reduce the hosts to 19 for 2. This was the second hat trick for Western Australia in two rounds following Brody Couch's feat against Tasmania.
However, that wasn’t enough for the visitors to have a stronghold in the game as Victoria raced to a comfortable victory, chasing 120 on the final day at Junction Oval.

Earlier, in 1998, Courtney Walsh, against Australia at the Gabba in 1988, took the last wicket in the first innings before bagging two with his opening deliveries in the second.
Rocchiccioli is in great form at the moment, having taken 12 wickets in three Sheild games in the ongoing season so far. He is in the line to be selected for the Australian Test side for the tour of Sri Lanka in January.
