Prabhsimran-Taide start well
After electing to bat first, Prabhsimran Singh (71) and Atharva Taide (47) got PBKS off to an excellent start, putting up 97 for the first wicket in nine overs to set up an excellent platform.
At last, Jitesh finds form
Leading PBKS for the first time, Jitesh Sharma (32*) put on his best show with the bat, getting past 30 for the first time in IPL 2024. His 15-ball innings gave his side some momentum and took them past 200.
Abhishek goes berserk again
Chasing 215, Travis Head was dismissed first ball, Abhishek Sharma did not disappoint, as his 28-ball 66 put SRH on course. He also broke the record for most sixes by an Indian batter in a single IPL edition (41).
Harpreet’s off-day
Harpreet Brar (1/36) had a day to forget as he was taken for plenty and, as a result, was not allowed to complete his quota. He finished with an economy rate of 12, which is the joint-worst for him (min 3 overs). He lacked control, which he had shown in most games this season.
SRH hold their nerve
SRH needed 48 off 42 with seven wickets in hand, but PBKS managed to drag the match until the last over. PBKS kept chipping away with three wickets in the next six overs or so to give the Men in Orange a run for their money. However, SRH held their nerve and, in the end, walked off from Hyderabad with a win. It also strengthened their bid for a top-two finish.
