Right then, this is it from the first game of the day where the Chattogram Challengers triumphed convincingly over Khulna Tigers and advanced to the Playoffs. But the action at Chattogram continues as the second game of the day is not far away. The two table toppers Rangpur Riders and Comilla Victorians will take on each other and that match begins at 18:00 IST (12:30 PM GMT). Cheers!

Shuvagata Hom, the winning skipper says they have played really well in the last few games and Tanzid played superbly. Adds that he benefitted the team a lot with his innings. Further says that the team is more comfortable when there are runs on the board. The bowlers were excellent too and they have qualified with an excellent team effort.

Tanzid Hasan is the Player of the Match for his sensational 116. He says that it is always great to win the match and contribute to the win especially when they have qualified now. He dedicates this to his parents. Says was waiting for the bad balls and dispatched them to the boundary and played his innings accordingly. Hopes for a great performance from the team in the Playoffs.

Anamul Haque is up for a chat and he says that they didn't bat well and also conceded too many runs in the backend. Credits Tanzid for his century and says that he took away the game from them. Says they began pretty well but certainly lost the momentum as wickets kept falling consistently which added more pressure on the batters. Adds that they need to bat more responsibly and come back stronger in the next game. Ends up by saying they have one more chance to prove themselves and will come back strongly.

The Presentation ceremony...

Earlier in the game, it was the skipper of Chattogram Challengers, Shuvagata Hom, who won the toss and opted to put runs on the board. The Challengers were dealt an early blow in the form of Muhammad Waseem. Tanzid Hasan struggled a bit at the start but soon found his groove to get his side off to a brisk start. Shykat Ali was a mere spectator amidst the onslaught from the southpaw. After notching up his fifty, Tanzid changed gears and unleashed himself all around the park. He found an able alley in Tom Bruce on his way to bring up his maiden T20 hundred off 58 balls. After Tanzid fell on 116, the highest individual score of this edition of the Bangladesh Premier League, contributions from Tom Bruce, Romario Shepherd, and Shuvagata Hom took the Challengers to 192. For the Khulna Tigers, Wayne Parnell was their most economical bowler with figures of 1 for 27 from his four overs.

As for Khulna Tigers, not only have they suffered a gut-wrenching defeat but their net run has taken a big hit which pegs them back big time in the race for playoffs. In pursuit of 193 runs, the Tigers were rocked early, losing Parvez Hossain Emon. Anamul Haque was undeterred by that early blow and got himself going with a flurry of boundaries. Coming in at number 3, Shai Hope ticked along nicely with the skipper going great guns at the other end. Anamul failed to kick on after which Hope and Evin Lewis began to take the innings forward. Once this stand was broken, it all fell apart for the Tigers as they kept losing one after the other to be bowled out for 127.

Chattogram Challengers are through to the playoffs with a dominant performance! Shuvagata Hom's Challengers become the third team to make it to the playoffs of this edition of the Bangladesh Premier League. At the start, as he has done so often, Bilal Khan gave his side an early breakthrough. The Challengers could not build on that scalp and leaked runs in the Powerplay. Shohidul Islam helped them break a flourishing stand before he contributed in the field to affect a run out in the same over. The Challengers never looked back since dealing those twin blows and chipped away at the wickets at regular intervals. Shuvagata Hom piled the misery in the middle phase before the rest of the bowling unit got into the act to seal the playoff berth for the Challengers.

Strategic break! Khulna Tigers need nothing but a miracle to get over the line here. All their hopes rest on the shoulders of Jason Holder. As for Chattogram Challengers, they are closing in on the win which would help them seal their berth for the playoffs. They will look to wrap it up quickly and improve their net run rate significantly.
