Watch: 'Wicketkeeper' Alex Carey Lights Up Gaddafi With Stunning One-Handed Catch
The athletic effort saw England lose Phil Salt early
Alex Carey pulled off a stunning one-handed catch in the Champions Trophy to dismiss England opener Phil Salt at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on February 22 (Saturday).
Ben Dwarshuis was tasked with bowling the second over of the match after Spencer Johnson gave away 12 off the first. But after just one of the first three deliveries of the second over, Salt looked to break the shackles by going over the top of mid-on. However, Carey made a couple of strides on his right, dove one-handed and the ball stuck.
This is also Carey's first ever catch as a non-wicketkeeper in ODI cricket. Australia have gone in with Josh Inglis as their designated wicketkeeper for this match. That gave Australia an ideal start as the dangerous Salt was dismissed for just 10 off 6.
Earlier, Australia captain Steven Smith won the toss and opted to bowl first. Dwarshuis, Johnson and Nathan Ellis are the three frontline seamers for them in this match
