Watch: Harshit Rana Creates Unwanted Record On ODI Debut

After conceding just 11 off his first two overs, the pacer was smashed around the park by Phil Salt

A glorious day for Harshit Rana soon turned into a nightmare as England batter Phil Salt took him to the cleaners, smashing him for 26 runs off a single over. Making his ODI debut in this game in Nagpur, Harshit started off well as he gave away just 11 runs from his first two overs, including a maiden.

However, Rohit Sharma tossed the ball back to Harshit for a third over, and that proved costly, as Salt hit 6,4,6,4,0,6 off that over. In doing so, he conceded 26 runs, which is the fourth most expensive over for India in ODIs and the costliest by a debutant.

Costliest overs for India in ODIs:

30 - Yuvraj Singh vs Dimitri Mascarenhas (ENG), The Oval, 2007

30 - Ishant Sharma vs James Faulkner (AUS), Mohali, 2014

28 - Krunal Pandya vs Ben Stokes (ENG), Pune, 2021

26 - Harshit Rana vs Phil Salt (ENG), Nagpur, 2025*

26 - Ravi Shastri vs Mike Gatting (ENG), Jhalandar, 1981

Rana was taken off the attack, but when he returned after Salt's run out, he picked up two wickets in an over, sending back Ben Duckett and Harry Brook in a span of four deliveries.
