At 9/1, Kolkata Knight Riders were in deep trouble before skipper Ajinkya Rahane turned up big time against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on March 22 (Saturday). Rahane smashed the 24-year-old Rasikh Salam Dar for a four before hitting through the line for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025’s first six.

It was a hit-me delivery from the Jammu and Kashmir bowler, and Rahane didn’t hesitate with a flick through the square leg region. But arguably, the best shot came two balls later when the Mumbaikar absolutely tonked the bowler for a 92m six through the mid-wicket region.

Nothing changed later, as Rahane showed his batting prowess with a stellar show, smashing two boundaries against Krunal Pandya’s over. KKR skipper then also smashed Yash Dayal for three boundaries to take his run tally beyond 40, with yet another six in the leg-side region.
