Uncapped duo named in Sri Lanka's squad for Australia Tests
Captain Dhananjaya de Silva is also recovering from a side strain but has still been named in the squad
Sri Lanka included uncapped left-arm spin-bowling allrounder Sonal Dinusha and opening batter Lahiru Udara in their squad for the two-match Test series against Australia, starting on January 29. Both the Tests will be played at Galle.
Udara, who has played 97 first-class games and amassed 6665 runs at an average of 41.14, has been called up mainly as a cover for Pathum Nissanka, who is recovering from a groin strain he picked up during the tour of New Zealand earlier in 2025.
Captain Dhananjaya de Silva is also recovering from a side strain but has still been named in the squad alongside Nissanka.
Dinusha has been in phenomenal form of late, having smashed two centuries in his last two innings for Colombo Cricket Club. Even in the red-ball series against Pakistan A, the left-handed batter managed scores of 30, 62, 85*, 116* and 38.
Dinusha also has five wickets in his last three games. Apart from him, Prabath Jayasuriya, Jeffrey Vandersay, Nishan Peiris and Dhananjaya are the other spinners in the squad. Asitha Fernando, Vishwa Fernando, Lahiru Kumara, and Milan Rathnayake are the four frontline seamers.
