No Green Signal So Far: THIS Australian WTC Final Hopeful Fails To Play Last Shield Game

Earlier, during the Australian Cricket Awards in January, the player confirmed his recovery to be on track

The Australian cricket team would have to wait longer to assess the fitness of Cameron Green as a batter only after it was reported that the all-rounder, who was supposed to play the last league match for Western Australia and also the final if they qualify for the Sheffield Shield, will not be able to play the fixture.

“It is understood he is unlikely to be cleared to play before the end of the Australian domestic summer, and WA are not expecting him to be available for the clash with Victoria or the Shield final if they qualify,” ESPN Cricinfo wrote in a report.

Green has signed a five-match deal with Gloucestershire Country Cricket Club for the County Championship 2025-26. The matches will be in the second division, and Green will be available to play as a batter from April 18 onwards, up until one week before the WTC Final starts on June 11.

With Green’s comeback, Australia will also have to shuffle their batting lineup to accommodate him as a batter in the summit clash against South Africa. Before getting injured, he batted at number four while Steve Smith opened. Now that Smith is back at four, it would be interesting to see where Green fits in.
