New Zealand replace Tickner with Duffy for UAE T20Is
Blair Tickner has decided to stay home with his wife and new-born daughter
New Zealand have replaced fast bowler Blair Tickner with Jacob Duffy after the former withdrew his name from the three-match T20I series against UAE, starting on Thursday (August 17). Tickner has decided to stay home with his wife and new-born daughter.
"We're a family environment and after speaking with Blair we fully support him being at home. The birth of a child is a special time and we're glad to be able to support Blair in being at home,” said New Zealand's head coach Gary Stead.
"Jacob's been part of many Blackcaps squads in the past and has always acquitted himself well at international level. He's got good skills and experience and we look forward to welcoming him into our squad in Dubai."
The 29-year-old right-arm seamer, Duffy last played for New Zealand in January. In 10 T20Is, Duffy has as many wickets at an average of 22.30 and an economy of 7.43.
The Black Caps will be without the likes of Finn Allen, Devon Conway, Matt Henry, Adam Milne, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips and Ish Sodhi, but all of these players will be back for the England tour. Kane Williamson will be travelling with the squad but is still far from match-ready.
All three T20Is will be played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, on August 17, 19 and 20.
