Nabi rules himself out of Netherlands ODI to give youngsters opportunity
Afghanistan’s senior player Mohammed Nabi will miss out on the three-match ODIs against Netherlands
Earlier this month, Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq, called time from the 50-over format to concentrate on the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia. Following that, all-rounder Mohammed Nabi has ruled himself out of the Netherlands ODI to give youngsters opportunity to showcase their skills.
On Sunday, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) named an 18-man squad for the three-match series. However, the board has not yet named a captain, following the absence of Nabi. Several uncapped players, Fazal Farooqi, Riaz Hassan, Shahidullah Kamal and Yamin Ahmadzai have been included in the setup.
The three-match ODI series will be part of the ODI Super League, which will determine the qualification process for the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. Having played just three games, Afghanistan find themselves 11th on the table.
