KKR Star Agrees With BCCI’s Strict Penalty On Harry Brook

The KKR all-rounder agreed with BCCI, stating that it is definitely not ‘harsh’

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)’ all-rounder Moeen Ali has agreed with the BCCI rules regarding a ban on players who pull out of the competition at the last minute. England batter Harry Brook will reportedly become the first player to be banned from IPL because of the new rules after he pulled out of IPL 2025.

The English all-rounder insisted that it is definitely not ‘harsh’ and cited how these players often come back at mega auctions to earn big money.

"It's not harsh. I kind of agree with it, in a way, because a lot of people do that," Ali said on the podcast “Beard Before Cricket.”

"A lot of people have done it in the past, and then they come back in and they end up getting a better financial package, or whatever it is. And he kind of messes a lot of things up as well at the same time."

Not just that, the 37-year-old reckoned that Delhi Capitals, who don’t have Brook now, will have the tough job of rejigging all their plans.

"I mean, it's messed his team up, obviously, by pulling out. Any team that loses Harry Brook is messed up a bit, and they've got to now rejig everything and stuff like that.

"Forget him for a second, but if you do pull out, the rule is that you get a ban unless it's for family reasons or… due to injury or something. If it's injury or something, it's different. But I think if you just pull out, then it's… I kind of agree with the teams. You actually mess a lot of stuff up.

DC spent INR 6.25 crore in securing the services of the English star, and his absence has really left a void in their middle-order, which now has to be rejigged. There are additional rumours that DC will have to start the season without their big signing, KL Rahul, who is expecting a child.

"He's [Brook] a top player. They've probably picked the team around him, and then all of a sudden, you're pulling out."
