IPL 2025: Why Joining KKR Was An Easy Decision For CSK Legend Bravo?

Dwayne Bravo, a legend of the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL), joined the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bandwagon of mentors and coaches for the 2025 edition of the league. 

Saying that the decision was not at all tough, the West Indian cited his association with Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) back home as a reason. 

“We’re looking forward to this season, winning lots of games, and hopefully defending our trophy. Having captained Knight Riders in Trinidad, where we had great success, joining was an easy decision when the opportunity came from Venky Sir,” Bravo told reporters during an interaction with the media at Knights Unplugged 2.0. 

The Knights Unplugged is an annual pre-season event hosted by the Knight Riders where fans get to meet the new squad and interact with the leadership group of the purple and gold brigade in Kolkata. 

Bravo played 116 matches for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL and never played for KKR. 

Mr. Venky Mysore, Chief Operating Officer of KKR, was also present at the event and lauded the fans for their loyal support base and filling one of the biggest stadiums - Eden Gardens - to the brim for every game. 

“It gives me goosebumps to see the love and support we receive. I don’t think there’s another city like Kolkata—when Eden Gardens fills with purple and gold, their chants for KKR and favorite players truly lift the entire team,” he said. 

Head coach Chandrakant Pandit, who was hired by the KKR side in 2022 after his brilliant domestic cricket record, during which he won three Ranji Trophy titles as coach of not one but three teams, said that the trophy was a result of everyone's hard work. 

“The title win last year belongs not only to the players, but to the entire franchise—including those working behind the scenes, the owners, and especially the fans whose support helps maintain our healthy atmosphere,” Pandit said.
