IPL 2025: MI Star Set To Miss Entire Season With Injury
It will impact the Mumbai Indians side heavily as they are dependent upon him to carry the entire team on his back
Mumbai Indians' spin woes in the Indian Premier League (IPL) continue as their star Afghan signing, Allah Ghazanfar, has been ruled out of cricketing action for at least four months.
The mystery spinner bowler, who was signed by the Mumbai franchise for INR 4.8 Cr in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, was removed from Afghanistan’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 squad on February 12 (Wednesday) and replaced by Nangyal Kharoti, a left-arm spinner.
"Afghanistan's young spin-bowling sensation, AM Ghazanfar, has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy due to a fracture in the L4 vertebra, specifically in the left pars interarticularis," the team confirmed via a statement.
The Afghanistan team in an official statement said, "He sustained the injury during Afghanistan’s recently held tour of Zimbabwe, and will be sidelined for a minimum of four months and will remain under treatment during this period.”
"Nangyal Kharoti, who was part of the reserves pool, has been promoted to the main squad for the Champions Trophy,” the statement added.
The Afghans will begin their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign against South Africa in Karachi on February 21.
