India's Gongadi Trisha first to hit century in ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup
The Indian opener smoked an unbeaten 110 off 59 deliveries, studded with 13 fours and four maximums, against Scotland
India’s Gongadi Trisha, on January 28 (Tuesday), became the first batter to slam a century in the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup. The right-handed opener achieved the milestone against Scotland in the Super Six Group 1 fixture of the 2025 ICC Under 19 Women’s T20 World Cup.
Trisha smoked an unbeaten 110 off 59 deliveries, studded with 13 fours and four maximums, at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur as India posted a total of 208/1 in their 20 overs.
This is also the second-highest total in the tournament's history. India also holds the top spot, having hit 219/3 against the UAE in Benoni during the last World Cup.
The previous record for the highest score in the tournament belonged to England's Grace Scrivens, who had scored 93 against Ireland in Potchefstroom in the 2023 edition.
Trisha opened the batting alongside wicketkeeper-batter G Kamalini and the two put on 147 runs in just 13.3 overs, with the latter getting out to Maisie Maceira after scoring 51 off 42 deliveries.
Trisha is now also the leading run-scorer in the ongoing T20WC, having smashed 230 runs across five innings at an average of 76.66 and a strike rate of 155.4. Only once has she been dismissed for a score of less than 40.
