He Will Become India's Captain For Sure: Dhawan Predicts About THIS Player
Dhawan was present at the stadium in the match between India and Pakistan in Dubai
Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan, who is one of the four event ambassadors of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, said that he is pretty sure that Shubman Gill will become the next India captain.
"Yes, of course, he will become captain. He is vice captain right now, it is pretty obvious that he will be captain some day,” Dhawan told a reporter after the India vs Pakistan match in Dubai on February 23.
Gill has been in superb form in the Champions Trophy and if not for a great unplayable delivery from Abrar Ahmed in the match against Pakistan. He scored a century in the first match against Bangladesh.
Dhawan also spoke about the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’s decision to make it mandatory for all players to play domestic cricket, if not injured.
"It's a very good decision. My only thing is that players should not be overloaded. That's all. But people will monitor that. It's a good thing that current players should play domestically as well -- like how Virat played (for Delhi a few weeks back) and the stadium got packed. At the same time, they should be rested enough,” he said.
