Going to adapt to Sri Lanka with my different methods: Konstas

Sam Konstas also revealed that emotions got to him a bit during the India series because of the crowds

Earlier last week, Australian Chief of Selector George Bailey revealed that Sam Konstas could miss out on the opening spot in Sri Lanka. Despite that, the 19-year-old New South Welshman reckoned that he’s going to adapt himself and train to the spin-friendly conditions in Sri Lanka with his different methods.

"I feel like I'll just keep backing myself. Obviously, I'm going to adapt with my different methods. I can't wait for that to happen," Konstas said ahead of the BBL playoffs.

Konstas further revealed his feelings ahead of his first trip away from home to Sri Lanka, which has quite a dynamic batting track, where batting becomes incredibly tough in the fourth innings. But the 19-year-old insisted that he will learn and train better to stand a chance to make it to the playing XI.

"It's obviously a huge honour representing my country and touring to Sri Lanka. They've welcomed me with open arms, and I'm keen to learn and get better," Konstas said. "Obviously, we've got a strong squad. If I do get the opportunity [to open], hopefully, I'll take it with both hands."

The 19-year-old also admitted that the emotions got the better of him during the fourth Test against India in Melbourne and the fifth Test in Sydney

"It's going to be completely different with the crowds, obviously," he said.

"It was the first time playing with big crowds and maybe the emotions got to me a bit, reflecting on it. But obviously Sri Lanka are going to be tough to beat in their home conditions. I'm looking forward to that."
