'Boo Me If You Want, But Not The Team' - Warner Issues Message To London Spirit Fans

Warner was snapped up by the London Spirit for £120,000 at the 2025 Hundred draft

David Warner has a new home in the franchise world, and it’s at a place which has been extremely hostile to him over the years. Indeed, Warner, who has been at the receiving end of a ton of abuse from English fans over the years, will call London his ‘home’ a few months down the line after being snapped up by the London Spirit for £120,000 at the 2025 Hundred draft.

Fans are supposed to cheer for their team’s players endlessly, but will the London Spirit supporters make an exception for Warner and boo him instead, even though he plays for their team?

"We just have to wait until I step foot on that park first, won't we?" Warner said, reported ESPNCricinfo.

"I'll have to walk past the Long Room first to get to the changing room!

"I'm really looking forward to it. I know how the English crowds are and that excites me as well, whether they're supporting me, the team or whoever it is. I just love being over there, playing in front of the crowd."

The 38-year-old had only one plea for the London Spirit fans, which is to never boo the team at any cost. He insisted that he does not mind one bit if he gets booed by the fans of his own team.

"I actually want them to come at Australians. I love that stuff,” Warner said.

“That's what gets me going. But I want them to support London Spirit. If they want to boo me, boo me, but don't boo the team or anything like that. Keep cheering for us."

Warner has been in fine form in franchise cricket of late. In the 2024/25 edition of the Big Bash League (BBL), he captained Sydney Thunder to the final and amassed 405 runs at an average of 45.00. He went unsold at the IPL 2025 auction but will make his Pakistan Super League (PSL) debut this year, having been snapped up by Karachi Kings.
