Bangladesh Name Only One Player In A Plus Category Of Central Contracts

Najmul Hossain Shanto, was named in A category, making it the first time a Bangladesh captain was not in the top salary bracket

The Bangladesh Cricket Board handed out central contracts to its players on March 10 (Monday) and, surprisingly, only Taskin Ahmed was named A Plus grade, the highest monthly salary bracket for the 2025-26 season.

It was after BCB resorted to grading players instead of clubbing their contracts as all-formats, white-ball and red-ball cricket for the last two seasons, that Taskin retained the only player in the A Plus category.

Mahmudullah, one of the senior-most players still playing white-ball cricket for Bangladesh, requested not to be named in the central contracts list while Shakib Al Hasan, since his absence from Bangladesh after the regime change in the country, has also been removed from the central contracts list.

Najmul Hossain Shanto, the Bangladesh all-format captain, was surprisingly in A category, a first for a Bangladesh captain, where he is not in the top salary bracket.

Players in A Plus category will receive 1 million Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) per month, while those in A category will receive 800,000 BDT. Players in category B will get 600,000 BDT and those in category C will receive 400,000 BDT. Only two players have been kept in category D, and they will get 200,000 BDT monthly from the board.
