Right then, that's it from this game with Saint Lucia Kings winning this by 7 wickets. The action continues from the CPL with the next game lined up between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Antigua & Barbuda Falcons on 22nd September 2024 at 4.30 am IST (11 pm GMT, the previous day). You can join us an hour early for all the pre-match build-up and updates as well. Until next time, stay safe and cheers.

The skipper of Saint Lucia Kings, Faf du Plessis says he is extremely proud of the way they played. Adds that they had a game plan knowing the spinners were going to play a great part in this game and the fielding and catching helped the cause of the team. Reckons that a batter needs to be proactive and put the bowler under pressure else they'll be left stranded at one end, eventually costing their wicket. Closes by saying that he is a big fan of playing the team together and not tweaking a lot so unless someone needs a break, they'll be going in with the same side.

The skipper of Barbados Royals, Rovman Powell says it's a difficult wicket but having said that losing 4 wickets in the Powerplay is not accepted. Adds that there is not much one can do on such a track with quality players in the opposition camp. Mentions that they are still playing good cricket but they just need to go back and find those errors and improve on them.

Alzarri Joseph is the player of the match and he says the side knew this was going to be a low-scoring wicket and he stuck to a good line and length and was rewarded. Mentions that with the pitch being two-paced, just staying in the wickets would have done the trick and he did exactly that.

Stay tuned for the presentation ...

Earlier in the game, Barbados Royals struggled with the bat and posted a meager 96. David Miller and Jason Holder top-scored with 21 runs each, but their efforts were the only bright spots in an otherwise dismal batting display. The pitch proved to be a nightmare for batters, with the ball spinning viciously and making run-scoring extremely challenging. While the spinners wreaked havoc, Alzarri Joseph's pace also caused significant damage, yielding 4 crucial wickets. Roston Chase complemented Joseph's efforts with a 3-wicket haul, ensuring the Royals' batting lineup never gained momentum.

The bowlers of Barbados Royals did not have much to play with but a difference in the quality of the attack between both sides was quite evident. Maheesh Theekshana, Keshav Maharaj and Jason Holder took on each and that was it in terms of wickets for the bowlers of Barbados Royals.

A thoroughly professional game of cricket from Saint Lucia Kings and they have defeated the Barbados Royals by 7 wickets and 37 balls to spare. Chasing down a low total, the Kings made sure they don't lose wickets early on even if the scoring rate is not that high. Faf du Plessis earlier in the innings and than Roston Chase made sure that the scoreboard kept ticking and no batter was stranded on the strike piling up the dots for a longer time. Roston Chase top scored with 39 to his tally whereas, Tim Seifert and Faf du Plessis scored in the 20s ensuring a victory for the Saint Lucia Kings.

Slight delay in proceedings. The players have gathered around the two umpires and they are having a chat about something that has forced the play to stop for a while. All good and the play resumes.
